Become a Licensed Master Barber in New York

Our 540-hour Master Barber program is a comprehensive, hands-on course designed to prepare students for a successful career in barbering. With both full-time and part-time options, this program gives you the technical skills, practical experience, and exam preparation needed to excel in the barbering industry.

​​Program Highlights

• Complete NYS-Approved Curriculum: 540 hours of state-mandated barbering training.
• Hands-On Training: Haircutting, fading techniques, clipper-over-comb, straight razor shaves, facial massage, and textured hair styling.
• Sanitation & Safety: State-required infection control and OSHA compliance.
• Career Preparation: Graduate ready for the New York State Master Barber licensing exam.

​​Program Schedule & Duration

Full-Time (30 hrs/week): Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00am–3:30pm

• Approximately 4.5 months to complete

Part-Time (22 hrs/week): Tuesday–Friday, 4:00pm–8:00pm; Saturday 9:00am–3:30pm

• Approximately 6.5 months to complete

Program Cost: $5,000
(Includes student tools, textbook, e-book, and licensing fees)
Payment Plans:

• Full payment upfront, or
  
• Payment plan: $1,100 down +
  
  • $229.41 per week for 17 weeks (Full-time)
    
  • $188.00 per week for 26 weeks (Part-time)

​​Required Acceptance Documents

• Social Security Card
  
• Birth Certificate
  
• High School Diploma (HSD), GED, or current high school transcript/report card
  
  • If no HSD or GED, WBA will administer an Ability to Benefit (ATB) exam
    
  • Foreign HSD must include notarized translation and original copy
    
• Must be at least 17 years old at graduation
  
• Proof of Address
  
• Photo Identification
  
• Completed Application
  
• $1,000 Down Payment + $100 Registration Fee
