In July of 2019, Westchester Barber Academy has opened its doors to its first class of students looking to build a career in the barber profession. What started as a simple apprenticeship program has evolved into a full fledged, tuition-based school for those wishing to develop a fulfilling, skill-based barbering career. |
Barber School
Our full-time Master Barber course consists of 540 hours. The cost of our Master Barber program is $5,000.00 (student tools, textbook, ebook & licensing fees included), which can be paid in total or via payment plan with $1,100.00 down and:
There are full-time or part-time options with rolling admission to choose from:
- $229.41 per week for 17 weeks (Full-time)
- $188.00 per week for 26 weeks (Part-time)
There are full-time or part-time options with rolling admission to choose from:
- Full-Time (30 hrs per week): 9:00am to 3:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday. This program takes approximately 4.5 months to complete
- Part-Time (22 hrs per week): 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday through Friday. Saturday classes are 9:00am to 3:30pm. This program takes approximately 6.5 months to complete

- Required High School Diploma (HSD) General Equivalency Diploma (GED), current high school report card or transcript. If you do not have an HSD or GED, WBA will administer an Ability to Benefit (ATB) exam prior to enrolling.
- If you have a HSD from a foreign country, you must submit notarized translation and copy of the original document
- Must be 17 years of age at the time of graduation

540 hour Master Barber Program
3 Hour Distance Learning Infection Control Course
Westchester Barber Academy also offers distance learning in the form of a 3-hour infection control course. This course is designed as a prerequisite for any NYS barber application (apprentice or master barber application).
The objective of WBA’s Infection Control Course is designed for applicants who wish to apply with the State of New York as a Barber Operator or a Barber Apprentice License must complete a program of study on the "transmission of contagious diseases and the proper methods of sanitation and sterilization” to be be eligible to receive a license The cost for this course is: $150.00 (Non-WBA Students) Payments can be made via cash, cash app or Zelle.

3 hour Master Barber Exam Prep
The objective of WBA’s Master Barber Exam Preparation Course is to assist eligible examinees to meet the level of competence for the practical examination required by the NY State Department of Licensing. The NY State Master Barber exam is a practical exam consisting of a:
- Haircut
- Simulated Straight Razor Shave
- Facial Massage
The exam tests for procedure and necessary skill. If you are unaware of what the examiners are looking for, it is quite possible for an experienced barber to fail the practical exam which will result in non-licensure. However, this 3 hour course is designed to prepare you for how you will be evaluated by examiners and pass the Master Barber Exam with flying colors!
